The byline on the CNN story is "U.N. troops watch as rescuers look for
bodies in rubble of Qana home".
The picture shows three UN guys just standing there with arms folded
while others did bodies from the qana rubble.
Is there really any point to having a UN?
Do you need to be reminded multiple times.
The UN is in the area as observers only.
What did they observe? Did they ever report back to Kofi what was going on?
Oh, I'm fairly certain that they reported regularly to the UN.
I believe that their presence was a strong deterrant that kept
Israeli incursions into Lebanon down. Not completely, of course,
but enough to prevent a major invasion until now.
Israel's attack on the UN observers is evidence that their
presence cramps the Israeli's style.
They don't have a Mandate to do anything.
Only observe and report. :) and so minimize false reports by
the belligerents.
Who was paying for all those people to do nothing? I don't think it will
look good on your resume when you go to look for your next job.
Not nothing!
Is your opinion the same about security cameras on subway platforms,
banks, casinos, and other places? Do these cameras stop ALL crime
at these places? or Do they only decrease its incidence and are
useful in collecting some information for documenting what happenned?
Interviewer: Where did you last work?
Job Seeker: I worked for the UN.
Interviewer: Oh that's interesting. What did you do for the UN?
Job Seeker: I did nothing.
Interviewer: Nothing?
Job Seeker: Nothing. That was my mandate. I stood in a little shack. They
paid me money.
Interviewer: Did you learn any new skills? Did you study during all that
time?
Job Seeker: I did get pretty good at eating, pissing and shitting. Do I get
the job?
Interviewer: I don't think we have any openings right now that fits your
qualifications. We'll keep your resume on file and call if we find anything.
Job Seeker: Please do...and thank you very much.
Interviewer: Oh wait! Do do have one thing! Would you like to run the EU?
Yes. Apparently that is you opinion about security cameras. :)
and this case in particular.
I don't think they even have permission
to shoot back at the Israelis. :-|

How often was Hezzbollah firing rockets into Israel before the current
pissing contest?

And you think that Israel thought no one would notice if they blew up a UN
observation post?

I was always against using that robin's egg blue and white. They should have
used bright pink or fluorescent yellow.

They aren't useful if nobody watching the monitor. Many security cameras are
fake...nothing but a red L.E.D.

Do you know what kind of people security firms employ? Losers, retireees and
students, none of whom are on a crusade to make the world a better place.
